Social Media

UO Advocates

Beginning fall of 2023, I joined the Government and Community Relations Team at the University of Oregon as the Student Communications Assistant. In my role, I was largely responsible for our social media strategy and content across various platforms.

One of my first major projects was the sharing of the university’s impact in every legislative district in the state, creating connections and outreach with their respective legislators. We saw increased engagement across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and grew our legislative following across our accounts.

The second major project I completed was in May 2025 when I did a follow-along with The Duck at the Oregon state capitol in Salem for UO Advocates’ “UO Day at the Capitol,” the biggest lobby day of the year for the university. I helped not only with posting on social media, but establishing contact with legislators before advocates arrived for the event, as well as participating in a few meetings with legislative offices as well.

The third major project I worked on was the launch of the UO Advocates LinkedIn profile. I researched other advocacy groups and how they used the platform, compiling the data for my supervisors. I then helped plan and draft the first two months of posts for our account, creating graphics, cultivating images, and writing the copy.
